A Volta (2009) captures the spirit of Johnny’s travels to Brazil, bringing the rhythms and melodies of Brazilian music into his guitar-based jazz compositions. Composed over a period of exploration and reflection, the album features twelve tracks that blend Bossa Nova influences with Johnny’s own jazz sensibility. Recorded at Subterranean Recording in Boulder with producer Tom Wasinger, the album showcases Mark Diamond on stand-up bass and Christian Teele on percussion, creating a rich, rhythmically nuanced journey through Brazilian-inspired jazz.
