John Ohnmacht was born in Aspen, Colorado, and has been entertaining fans across the state for over twenty-five years. He first gained national and international attention with his former band, Band du Jour, which toured extensively for six years. Band du Jour released the CD Feel The Sun and built a devoted following in Boulder, consistently selling out the nationally renowned Fox Theater for more than three years.
After the band parted ways, John spent three months in Mexico, taking time to recharge and draw inspiration from new experiences. During his time there, he learned that a blues band back in his hometown of Carbondale, Colorado, was looking for a guitarist. John returned to the U.S. and stepped in to front the 12:BarFlies, a well-established bar band that had played extensively throughout the Colorado
After a year with the 12:BarFlies, John decided it was time to bring his experience and vision back to Boulder and launch his own group, carrying forward the energy, style, and passion that have defined his musical career. He started the Johnny O Band in 1997
